THE ADOLF CANON

The world’s largest land-based cannon in the world! A complete 40.6m cannon and its  bunker were built by the German Armed Forces during World War II, mainly in 1942-43. In the bunker there is a small museum where material that was in used by the German coastal artillery is exhibited.

 

THE TRONDENES CHURCH

The northernmost stone church from the late Medieval (1250). One of the foremost cultural heritage in Norway from this period, it houses several objects, and has a beautiful interior. Located in beautiful surroundings on the Trondenes peninsula.

 

 

TRONDENES HISTORY CENTER

Exhibitions and multivision that will provide you with a unique insight into the exciting history of Northern Norway through archaeological exhibitions, music, smells and sounds. A journey through the Viking Age and the Medieval Ages to the World War II and today’s urban society.

 

TRONDENES MEDIEVAL FARM

The farm illustrates an ordinary fish farm in the 13th century – not so big, but not so small either. The husband’s workplace was the sea while the housewife had the daily responsibility for the farm. Through role-plays and drama, Norwegian and local medieval history is conveyed.

 

 

SAM PLAYGROUND

SAM Lekeland is an arena for physical and mental development, learning and mastering motor skills, knowledge-oriented activities and physical control. In the playground, it is all about interaction and respect for each other.

GROTTEBADET UNDERGROUND SWIMMING POOLS

In the mountains, in the middle of Harstad downtown, you will find the Northern Norway’s funniest water park. A spectacularly different cave pool with tropical summer all year round! Among the caves and waterfalls you will find slides, water cannons and wave pools for the little ones, diving tower and sports pools for training and exercise, therapy pool and whirlpool for those who want to relax.

 

KASFJORD CITY

The world’s smallest city with the biggest heart – is located on the sunny side of the beautiful Kasfjord 12 km from Harstad. The city has its own mayor and if you book with us, you get to meet her in her city-mayor garments, hear about the current affairs going on in the city right now and get access to the very specific and original souvenir shop provided by the same artist.

The church is built in brick back in 1958. It has a listed conservation status (after 1850). Architect: Jan Inge Hovig

 

 

 

NILS – PERS GÅRDMUSEUM

The houses on the farm are located on and around a farm mound that was registered in 1874. The farm museum contains fishing tools, agricultural tools and household tools all the way from the 1800s until today.

 

 

 

 

MELØYVÆR FORT

Meløyvær fort is a disused coastal artillery fort on Krøttøya. The facility consists of three cannons and a command center, and was completed in 1988 as one of the last three coastal forts built in Norway. It was also strategically important during the Cold War, and it had to cover the area between Andøya and Senja.
